This 6-page accordion book features the font ‘Prospectus Pro’ by Dave Bailey. It is used to display the practical application of the font, and showcase it for people who are interested in using it. Along with the typebook, I developed a poster featuring a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson from “Self-Reliance.”

When I chose ‘Prospectus Pro’ as the font I was promoting, I wanted to subvert design expectations. I did this by looking at what ‘Prospectus Pro’ is typically used for, the styles it is paired with, and went in the opposite direction to create something out of the box. Designing the typebook took weeks of preparation that required a lot of experimentation. My main inspiration came from Spotify Wrapped (2023), where they leaned into an early internet aesthetic that broke the grid. I played around with bright colors, gradients, shapes, and patterns to create an interesting maximalist design. Each page is different in terms of content and style, but overall it creates a cohesive and engaging experience.
