These posters showcase two different fonts that I chose to explore. Both posters display the designer of each font, when it was developed, the entire alphabet, and the anatomy of letters. The experimentation of font size, colors, styles, and movement were important to this project as I wanted to design with diversity and variety in mind.
For the “Lobster” poster, I wanted to give off this feeling of fun summer time outings, drawing a lot of inspiration from menus one might get when ordering seafood. The colors are different tones and shades of the same red. Playing around with these colors gives the poster an expressive, playful, feeling. While working on the “Optima” poster I leaned into the time period in which it was created; 1958. It is minimalist and angular, utilizing the three primary colors for the content. This poster was designed using stricter grid structures than the “Lobster” poster. The process of creating iterations for both posters was challenging as there was a lot of inspiration to draw from, and so many different angles to see these fonts from.
