This line of cultural stamps made in Adobe Photoshop drew inspiration from my heritage. I was born in China and used this as an opportunity to pay homage to that aspect of my life. The process of  designing these stamps was based on traditional Chinese clothing and games.

The frame in which all of the outfits are displayed in, come from the shape of Chinese domino cards, which were introduced during the Southern Song Dynasty. The traditional outfits, flowers, and landmarks shown on the stamps originate from different parts of China, as I wanted to show off the cultural diversity within the country. I used gradients of reds and yellows on the frames as a more on the nose point to the colors on China’s flag that hold many symbolic meanings. To promote these culture based stamps, I designed a poster to advertise them for the United States Postal Service. The background consists of two different Chinese paintings layered over each other to create depth. I chose these paintings due to their neutral tones, consistent with traditional Chinese paintings, so the color of the stamps would be emphasized.
